March 6, 2021--Fallen Angels
Each one of us has a devil inside,
an angelic being condemned to live
in the shadows of our doubts and fears.
Each of us must descend to the place
where our fears incarnate and face them there.
It is not sanitized work. We have to take off
our three piece suits and high heel shoes.
Work gloves, old jeans, and rubber boots
are the dress code of choice.
Our spirituality is not something we gain in the skies.
It is something we win in the trenches of daily life.
That may not be romantic or consoling.
But it is the truth.
The sooner we learn it, the easier it will be for us.
